Reality Fracture artwork featuring Jace and fragmented versions of himself, art by Zara Alfonso

Reality Fracture is on shelves today, and Wizards is giving Limited players a second reason to learn the set quickly: a new Arena Direct starts this morning with physical Collector Booster boxes at the top of the prize ladder.

Elsewhere, D&D Beyond’s October Drop has quietly crossed a more interesting line than its seasonal Shadowfell theme suggests, and Paizo has laid out the Society adventures arriving through October.

Reality Fracture reaches release day with a Collector Booster box on the line

Reality Fracture officially releases today after a week of prerelease play. The set’s central gimmick is the Echoverse, Jace’s altered version of the Multiverse, and its boosters pair familiar characters with their alternate-reality counterparts. For Limited players, though, the more immediate story today is Arena Direct.

The Reality Fracture Arena Direct opens October 2 at 8 a.m. PT and uses Best-of-One Sealed. Entry is 6,000 gems, each run ends at seven wins or two losses, and seven wins earns a physical Reality Fracture Collector Booster box while supplies last. If the physical boxes run out, Wizards says the replacement prize is $323.88 in cash.

That prize structure makes this a very different kind of release-week Limited event. Six wins returns 10,800 gems and 32 Arena packs, but the jump from six to seven wins moves from digital rewards to a sealed Collector Booster display. Anyone entering repeatedly should treat the 6,000-gem cost accordingly; this is a high-variance competitive event, not a cheap way to sample the new set.

There is also a tabletop supply wrinkle worth remembering. Wizards previously warned that Reality Fracture Play Booster supply may tighten in North America after release weekend because part of the shipment was delayed around the Panama Canal. Play Boosters and prerelease product made the launch window, but stores could see a gap before replenishment arrives.

On the calendar: Reality Fracture releases October 2. Arena Direct opens October 2 at 8 a.m. PT, signup closes October 12 at 1 a.m. PT, and the event ends October 12 at 4 a.m. PT or when its entry limit is reached.

D&D Beyond’s Shadowfell Drop brings the program its first subclass

D&D Beyond’s October Drop is live, and the headline is not really the Halloween timing. Shadowfell Secrets introduces the Sorrow Knight, the first full subclass released through the monthly Drops program.

The Sorrow Knight is a Fighter built around Despairing Strike Dice, turning the character’s connection to the Shadowfell into a combat resource. The Drop also adds Shadow Pact as a Planar Pact feat, the Shadow Trapper and Shadow Weaver feats, new monsters, maps, encounters, and a Tarokka Life Path tool for building character backstories.

For D&D Beyond subscribers, the subclass is the part to watch. Drops began as a recurring stream of subscriber material, but a subclass is much closer to the kind of player-facing option that can become part of a long-running character build. If Wizards keeps using Drops for material at this scale, the program starts to matter beyond maps and one-session DM tools.

The Tarokka tool is a nice fit for the same release. Instead of using the deck only as a DM-side Ravenloft prop, the Life Path spread gives players prompts for a character’s past and future. It is deliberately allowed to create contradictions, which is probably the right choice for a backstory generator meant to spark ideas rather than write the character for you.

Paizo’s October Society slate keeps both Pathfinder and Starfinder moving

Paizo has previewed October’s organized-play adventures, with one Starfinder Society scenario and two Pathfinder Society scenarios on the way this month.

On the Starfinder side, the Society is still dealing with the fallout from the Rending. Investigators have connected the attack to a cell of the Cult of the Devourer and uncovered signs that more strikes against Absalom Station are coming. The next assignment sends Starfinders to the Freemarkets, continuing the current Beyond the Blood Door metaplot rather than treating the month as a disconnected one-shot.

That continuity is the useful bit for organized-play tables. Society scenarios are easiest to slot into a store or convention schedule when they work independently, but an ongoing plot gives regular players something to follow from month to month. Pathfinder Society gets two new scenarios alongside it, so groups running both systems have fresh material arriving across October.
