There is a useful moment in every new set cycle when preview-season speculation finally has to give way to actual games. Reality Fracture reached that point yesterday on MTG Arena, even as paper players are still in the middle of Prerelease week.
That makes September 30 an interesting crossover day. Magic has enough live play happening to start asking better Limited questions, Riftbound's Radiance previews are still filling in a new set one reveal at a time, and D&D Beyond just added a fresh spell-and-steel option for 5.5e tables.
Reality Fracture is live, but the Limited format is still young
MTG Arena: live September 29 · Prerelease: September 25 to October 1 · Tabletop release: October 2
Reality Fracture arrived on MTG Arena yesterday, September 29, giving players their first broad chance to put the completed card file through repeated Draft and Sealed games. Paper Prerelease events continue through October 1, and the worldwide tabletop release follows Friday, October 2.
The important part today is not declaring a best color or a solved archetype. One day of digital play is not enough for that. What Arena does provide is volume. Commons and uncommons that looked ordinary during preview season can now show whether they consistently pull their weight, while flashy build-arounds have to prove they are worth the setup in real pools.
For players preparing for another Prerelease or a launch-weekend draft, the early question worth watching is how often the set's echoed pairs and synergy pieces are good on their own. Sealed decks do not always give you the density to assemble every intended combination, so cards that remain useful without their perfect partner deserve extra attention while the format is still being mapped.
There is also a high-stakes digital reason to learn the Sealed environment quickly. Wizards has scheduled the first Reality Fracture Arena Direct for October 2 through October 11. The event uses Best-of-One Reality Fracture Sealed, with seven-win players earning a Reality Fracture Collector Booster box while supplies last.

Radiance preview season keeps building the next Riftbound picture
Preview window: September 25 to October 9
We covered the Radiance kickoff in Friday's Journal. Five days later, the more interesting story is the cadence taking shape around it. Riot's official Radiance overview says previews run from September 25 through October 9, with the overview itself scheduled for additional updates on October 5 and October 16.
That means Radiance is still in the stage where individual reveals can look louder than they eventually play. A card that seems pushed in isolation can land very differently once the surrounding legends, signatures, battlefields, and archetype support are visible.
For competitive players, this is the useful part of spoiler season: start building hypotheses, but keep them flexible. The full context is still arriving. By the time Riot reaches its next major overview update on October 5, we should have a much better sense of which themes are becoming actual deckbuilding lanes rather than one-card curiosities.
At the RPG table: the Magus brings spell and steel to D&D Beyond
D&D Beyond's partnered-content calendar had one release circled for September 29: The Magus Class for 5.5e from Sterling Vermin.
The class is built around the familiar warrior-mage fantasy and arrives with six subclasses and more than thirty spells. For groups that like characters who live between the martial and spellcasting sides of the rules, that is a substantial package rather than a small subclass drop.
It is also another example of how D&D Beyond's partnered-content shelf is expanding alongside first-party releases. The Magus is not a new core class from Wizards' own rules team, but its presence on Beyond makes third-party player options much easier for tables that already build and run characters inside the platform.

From the Hoard: Liliana the Repentant
With Reality Fracture moving from previews into real games, today's natural shop tie-in is Liliana the Repentant, Borderless #305. We currently have the Near Mint single listed at Hearth & Hoard.
It is a better fit for today's Journal than forcing in an unrelated sealed product. Reality Fracture's appeal is built heavily around familiar characters appearing through the Echoverse, and the borderless Liliana treatment is a clean example of how that concept shows up in the physical card file.
Around the Hearth
Friday is the next hinge point. Reality Fracture Prerelease gives way to the full tabletop release, Arena Direct begins, and the first weekend of broader paper play starts producing a much larger sample of real decks and real Limited pools.
Radiance remains a slower burn, with more of the set still to be revealed, while the Magus gives RPG tables something new to experiment with immediately. For now, the interesting part is that all three stories have moved beyond announcements. Players can actually start putting the pieces on the table.
