Disney Lorcana Hyperia City artwork from the Ink Drop Deep Dive

Lorcana’s next set is changing the way players make ink, and Ravensburger has more Hyperia City on deck for today’s Lorecast. Magic, meanwhile, has eight new Secret Lair drops lined up for October, with Labyrinth, KPop Demon Hunters, Marvel Zombies, and several artist-led releases sharing the same Corn Maze.

Elsewhere, Paizo’s new core-book prices take effect today, while MagicCon Detroit’s early-bird badge window is already down to its final few days.

Hyperia City gives every Lorcana color temporary ink

Ravensburger has put real rules text around Hyperia City’s new ink-drop mechanic. Each ink drop is worth 1 ink, can be used the same turn it is made, and leaves the game when it is spent. More importantly, every ink-color combination can make them. Until now, putting extra cards into the inkwell has largely been Sapphire’s territory.

That distinction matters. Ink drops do not simply hand every deck permanent ramp. They create temporary resources that can be saved or spent at the right moment, so the interesting decisions are about sequencing: whether to turn several drops into one large play, spread them across smaller turns, or hold them for cards that specifically care about how they were paid for.

Ravensburger has already shown how far that can go. Madam Mim – Resourceful Trickster gets an on-play benefit when ink drops help pay for her, while Jousting Match jumps from 2 damage to 5 when an ink drop is used. Hyperia City is not just adding another resource token; it is building card text around when and how that resource gets spent.

There is more coming shortly. Today’s Lorecast is scheduled for 10 a.m. PT, with new Epic cards and a closer look at Illumineer’s Quest: The Great Hunny Rescue. Hyperia City prerelease follows October 16, with the wider release October 23.

On the calendar: Lorecast: October 1 at 10 a.m. PT. Hyperia City prerelease: October 16. Wide release: October 23.

Secret Lair turns October into a full Corn Maze

Wizards has revealed all eight drops in Secret Lair’s Corn Maze Superdrop, due October 12. Three are built around Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, joined by KPop Demon Hunters: How It’s Done, Marvel: Zombies, Artist Series: Veronique Meignaud, Manufactured Grounds by See Machine, and Peace, Love, & Treefolk.

Most individual drops are $29.99 nonfoil or $39.99 foil. Labyrinth gets the deepest treatment with three separate releases, and Wizards is also offering a foil Maze of Ith as “The Labyrinth” promo for each $199 spent while supplies last.

For buyers, the queue details are more useful than the theme list. The pre-queue opens at 8 a.m. PT, an hour before the 9 a.m. sale. People already waiting when the sale starts are assigned a randomized place in line, and adding something to a cart does not reserve it. The order is only secured after checkout.

That is the practical wrinkle with a crossover-heavy drop like this. If one particular release is the target, having account, payment, and shipping information ready matters more than trying to arrive at the very front of the pre-queue.

Dates to know: Corn Maze pre-queue: October 12 at 8 a.m. PT. Sale: October 12 at 9 a.m. PT.

Paizo’s new core-book prices take effect today

Paizo’s previously announced pricing changes are now active. Pathfinder’s four Core hardcovers and Sketch Editions move from $59.99 to $69.99, while Pathfinder and Starfinder Pocket Editions that were $29.99 move to $34.99.

A smaller group of other physical books moves too. Select Lost Omens hardcovers are up $5, and Starfinder Alien Core moves from $64.99 to $69.99. Paizo says rising costs across tariffs, paper, printing, freight, warehousing, and fulfillment are behind the adjustments.

This is not a catalog-wide increase. Adventure Paths and standalone adventures, organized-play scenarios, fiction and accessories, and PDFs are unchanged in this update. For players buying physical Core books, and stores replacing those books on the shelf, October 1 is simply the line where the new pricing begins.

MagicCon Detroit’s early-bird window is already ticking

Badge sales are live for MagicCon Detroit, running February 26–28, 2027 at Huntington Place, and the first discount window closes October 5 at 10 a.m. PT or sooner if a badge type sells out.

The standard Weekend badge is $113.60 during early bird pricing instead of $128.60, while Premium Weekend is $173.60 instead of $193.60. For anyone already planning Detroit, that makes this less of a future convention announcement and more of a short practical deadline.

The competitive headliner is Pro Tour Nauctis, with a $500,000 prize pool and a mix of Nauctis: The Sunken Realm Draft and Modern Constructed. Wizards says more ticketed play, programming, and guests are still to come, so the current badge window is mostly about locking in admission before the full weekend schedule is known.

On the calendar: Early-bird pricing ends October 5 at 10 a.m. PT or when a badge type sells out. MagicCon Detroit runs February 26–28, 2027.
