Dungeons & Dragons has officially crossed into Azeroth at the table. The latest Dungeon Masters campaign premiered September 23, putting an underdog Horde guild into the spotlight and pairing the show with a free Play-Along Pack that viewers can bring into their own games.

It is a more useful look at D&D: World of Warcraft than another product reveal: players can now see how the setting feels in actual play months before the full gameplay expansion arrives in November.

D&D’s Dungeon Masters Campaign Rolls Into Azeroth

Double-episode premiere: September 23 · Master Tier early access: November 3 · Wide release: November 17

Wizards’ official Dungeon Masters actual-play series has started its World of Warcraft campaign, with Jasmine Bhullar behind the screen and the party playing Afterlife, an underdog Horde guild. The campaign follows the July announcement that D&D’s Season of Champions would bring Azeroth into fifth-edition tabletop play.

The part that matters most for home tables is the accompanying free Play-Along Pack. D&D Beyond says the campaign is designed to give viewers material they can carry back into their own games rather than functioning only as a show to watch.

The broader D&D: World of Warcraft expansion is substantial: Wizards lists rules for all 13 World of Warcraft classes, 16 playable species, 60-plus spells, more than 50 monsters, 30 dungeon-boss stat blocks and seven iconic dungeons rebuilt for tabletop play. The full book launches November 17, with Master Tier early access beginning November 3.

That makes this campaign the first sustained chance to watch Wizards’ version of Azeroth operate at an actual D&D table before release. For groups considering the November book, the useful question over the next several episodes is less “does it look like Warcraft?” and more “do the new mechanics and encounter ideas feel natural inside D&D?”

Around the Hearth

Tomorrow is busy on the card-game side of the calendar. Magic: The Gathering — Reality Fracture begins Prerelease play on September 25, while Riftbound’s Radiance preview season is scheduled to kick off in Los Angeles the same day. Both have already been covered in the Journal, so today they are reminders rather than recycled stories.

For tabletop players, the Azeroth campaign is now worth watching as an ongoing preview of how November’s D&D crossover actually plays rather than simply how its product list reads.
